Out of the gate and off for a walk....

The Room 9 explorers (along with all the other Year 1 explorers at Wakari School) went out for an adventure yesterday afternoon!
We have been learning about "Our Place - Wakari", and what kind of things are in our neighbourhood.  Have a look at some photos of our walk, it sure was fun!

The Firefighters at School!!

Yesterday afternoon was pretty exciting for everyone in Room 9 - the Firefighters came to our school...in the firetruck!

The Firefighters showed us their equipment and explained how it worked, do you remember what the yellow circle on the road is for?

We also got to learn about their uniforms, and which ones they wear when they are helping people install smoke detectors, or teaching people how to be FIREWISE (like us), and the different uniform they wear when they are fighting fires.

Our favourite part of their visit was getting to use the hose!  The Firefighters let everyone have a turn to squirt the hose, the water could travel very far!

Thank you Firefighters for a fantastic afternoon!

你好 Nǐ hǎo (hello)

The enthusiastic learners in Room 9 have been learning Chinese!!  Rebecca, who is a teacher all the way from China, has been coming to our class every Thursday to teach us how to count to ten in Chinese!  It is tricky to get the sounds exactly right, but we are trying our best and making great progress!

Here is a video to help you practice your numbers - can you remember the actions?
